FRASER ISLAND DAY1

We drove from Noosa to Hervey Bay where we picked up our 4 wheel drive. Then we drove to the ferry for a half an hour trip to Fraser. When we got there we got onto the tracks, they were sandy. The whole island is made of sand. There is more sand on Fraser Island than there is in the Sahara desert and it is the biggest sand island in the world. It was really hard to drive on the sandy tracks and we got 'bogged' but managed to get out of it without getting out.

It took a very long time to drive through the island but once we got to the beach we were much faster. Seventy five mile beach is considered a road because it's better to drive on than the inland roads. When we finally got to the cabin it was very basic and on a camp site. We were relieved to get there before the tide got too high.
